What's been happening........?

Guess I better update you a little.

We're getting busy at the IT Resource Centre, day by day, and keeping on our toes with the initative, due to this being a whole new concept in Kenya.

I've actually jumped ship for the past 3 weeks, and I'm now in Dar es Salam awaiting my lastest arrival from Ireland, Mark.

Cillin came over a month ago, and help with the centre in Malindi. We got the network up and running, so now it is much easier to get stuff done in the centre, and share all our information on all the comptuters, for everyone to have access to.
Bryan, who is talking about coming over again in July, is creating a special database catalog, which will easily present all the information we have on community development, and have easy use, for whoever will be adding more data.

While Cillin was around he also trained Jim and Kathy in computer management which will really help to centre be self sustainable, and hopefully soon with a few more plans I have in the head we'll have a team of people supporting us.

Due to visa reasons, and the need to escape for a while, and travel again, myself and Cillin took off West for the Ugandan border. Crossing it, the day my extended visa expired.
We circumnavigated lake Victoria. Passing through Uganda, Rwanda and Tanzania.

Along the way we met so many people, some of them the nicest ever, some taking us in and giving us a bed (and the floor) for the night or a lift here and there, all the others just wanted to sell the white man something, fair play to them for trying!!

We passed through "Hell's Gate"; adventured in the high lands of the Rift Valley (getting there by pushing a pickup, not actually traveling in it!); white-water rafted on the source of the Nile with the crocs; stayed over night in Rwanda (as one does!); huffed and puffed across the border into Tanzania haggling our way in for free; and took a quick ride through the Serengeti, accidentily redirecting half the migration by driving straight through 1 million wilderbeast; it would also appear that we might have passed the film set for the next "Lion King" movie, looking at the photos below.

It was a rest day obviously!

Cheers!

Lindsay

ps For those with an East African map, our basic route was Kenya: Malindi-Nairobi-Naivasha-Nakuru-Kisumu-Busia-Uganda: Jinja-Kampala-Rwanda: Kigali-Rusumo-Tanzania: Rusumo-Benacco-Kahama-Mwanza-Serengeti-Arusha-Dar es Salam.
